Name: Elle
Character's name: Kaoru Hitachiin the Third
Character's age: 21
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: Ouran High School Host Club: The Spirit of Christmas
Background: Kaoru is, how you say... a snob. A rich, mean, snob. He's better than everyone else and he knows it, and he's not afraid to flaunt his power.
But that's only if you get on his bad side.
When Kaoru was born (6:34pm, Sunday), he was a small baby with a birthmark on his shoulder and a twin. He was named the second heir to the Hitachiin estate and fortunes, and was named after his great-grand uncle.
On Kaoru's first birthday, he was a small child with a birthmark on his shoulder, a bite mark on his hand, and no twin.
You see, two nights before he and his twin were due to celebrate one year of living, their mansion was broken into.
Let me tell you now that the Hitachiin family is one of the top five richest families in Japan. They have items in their house that people would die to look at, and enough money to last them well past the demise of the family.
So, of course, they would have a lot of security. And when you have a lot of security, it's impossible to know where all of them are at once.
That, unfortunately, makes it very easy for a sleeping baby to be kidnapped, along with all of his toys.
And that, my friends, is what happened to Hikaru Hitachiin the Third. But I'm not talking about Hikaru, I'm talking about Kaoru, who cried as soon as his brother left the room and who wouldn't stop crying until he knocked himself out. Kaoru, who, as he grew up, didn't know why he felt so lonely all the time, and why that kid he saw playing once looked so familiar.
(Later, when he was looking in a mirror, he found out that it was because the kid looked like him.)
His parents, distraught by his brother's kidnapping, never told him about his twin. After five years of looking, the officials pronounced him dead. The Hitachiin seniors thought it would be best if Kaoru didn't know about his dead twin, for fear that it would damage him emotionally and make him unable to take over any of the family businesses.
So Kaoru went to school, and he learnt, and when he was old enough, he started to work with his mother in the fashion industry. After three years, he was publicly announced - by at least six different fashion magazines - the best fashion designer in Japan.
Of course, working in the fashion industry means that you need photos taken, and lots of them. So it was Kaoru's job to have photo shoots with different photographers, and sign the best ones up to photograph the models.
It was on one of these trips to a studio named Colin's Creations for special Christmas shots that Kaoru was mugged by a red-haired homeless person, who also had the gall to impersonate him. Him, Kaoru Hitachiin, the heir to the Hitachiin estate and fortunes!
Of course, Kaoru would not stand for that, and took his attacker to court, where he had a restaining order placed against him.
In retaliation, the homeless guy insisted that Kaoru had molested him and also demanded a restraining order.
But really, who listens to the law?
Two weeks later, when Kaoru was going to another photographer, he ran into his mugger again - literally. Apparently, the idiot had stolen some money from an undercover cop, and was escaping.
So what choice did Kaoru have when the cop ran up to him, asking if the two were brothers? How could he say no when that guy started acting like they were - of all things - lovers? Apparently his blush said enough, and the cop walked away without taking his money back.
And when Kaoru came to his senses, the thief was gone as well.
Since then, he kept an eye out for his stalker. Because, Kaoru decided, what else could he be? He got lucky when he was late for his train, and had to catch the next one.
The train that his stalker was on.
And, his luck got ever better - they were squished together on that train, which meant that Kaoru could grip his wrist and drag him out when the train stopped.
Which he did, by the way.
Long story short, Kaoru convinced him (Hikaru, he learnt his name was, after referring to him as "Street Urchin") to dress up, get a hair cut, and pretend to be him during a rather boring board meeting.
It worked rather nicely, and the two started to meet up to switch clothes, and - for a few hours - lives. Kaoru would wander the streets, hands in his pockets and head bowed, and Hikaru would sit in a chair, hands folded, back straight, and a bored look on his face.
When they started meeting at night, just for each-other's company... Well, it got a little weird. (And for the record, Kaoru didn't start it. Hikaru managed to follow him home and climbed up the wall, opened the window, and hid in his closet.)
The loneliness that Kaoru had always felt disappeared when he was with Hikaru, and he felt like a huge hole in his soul had just been filled in.
On Kaoru's twenty-first birthday, he was an average height, had a birth-mark on his shoulder, a bite mark on his hand from a fight with Hikaru, and a stalker who was his friend.
The day after Kaoru's birthday, he was an average height, had a birth-mark on his shoulder, a bite-mark on his hand, a hickey on his neck, and a boyfriend that he couldn't remember agreeing to.
But he must've, because when he woke up with Hikaru's arms around him and feeling content for a reason he didn't know, he didn't reject him.
That was the day his parents found out about Hikaru, and they day they learnt that they could possibly be twins. They sent their blood samples off, laughing and agreeing that sure, they look the same, but they couldn't possibly be twins.
Three weeks later, the results came back. They read them and burnt them before their parents came home.
They were Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, born at 6:16pm and 6:34pm on Sunday. But they didn't care.
Kaoru publicly announced that he had a boyfriend; Hikaru willingly dressed up for photos. Kaoru signed half of the Hitachiin fortune off to him, and Hikaru promised he'd look after it.
They moved into one of the smaller Hitachiin mansions, and whenever someone commented on how similar they looked, they'd smile and laugh, and say that didn't everyone in the world have someone who looked like them?
They were twins, but it was their secret, and like hell they'd let anyone tear them apart again.
Personality: As opposed to the original OHSHC Kaoru, this Kaoru never grew up with Hikaru, so he's much more independant. He still makes his decisions based on first impressions and what someone's wearing, but he's willing to change his opinion.
He believes that people should be thrown into jail for having bad fashion sense, and doesn't see an excuse for wearing ugly clothing. If he thinks something is pointless, he won't do it. Period. However, if he does think something's worth doing, he won't stop until he's done what he wants.
But if it gets boring at any stage, he'll drop it like a hot potato. Boring things aren't worth doing.
Kaoru can be pretty harsh at times, and blunt, but usually it's to people he doesn't like. He'll be really nice when he wants something, though.
